May 20th is the Highlands Festival in Fair Hill, MD. We’ve been going to this every year, weather permitting, for the last 14 or so years. Dad called last night because he just emailed me on Sunday and I hadn’t let him know yet whether or not I want to go.

I’m still deciding. It’s not as simple as just saying yes. I’ll have to go to the Eastern Shore, stay the night at my father’s, then come home Saturday evening after a long day of dust, wind and LOUD bag pipe music playing all at once, playing different songs all at once. They have competitions while there, you see, and there are several different competitors being judged at once.

But! It is the only time I get at taste of Scottish food really. Only a taste. They serve bridies and meat pies because they are easy to make. Both are a meat sort of pastry. It’s worth going just for those.

I just fear if I go I’ll be tempted to spend money because they also have some awesome vendors, and I can’t do that right before Con. It’d be nice to hang out with my dad, plus I have to get my camera.

I sit on the fence. Go? Not go? Probably go. I’d be more tempted to go, I think, if they had new stuff there. Hmm. Maybe I’ll go to watch the Scottish games for a change. Caber tossing anyone? Big burley, well muscled men tossing large poles. Hmmmmm.
