Weaning The HFCS....

I've decided that I'm going to be cutting back on the number of sodas I drink, again. There was a time when I was drinking mostly water -- or at least flavored waters, and I was acclimiated to just that. Then, work got stressful and I fell back to sodas as I just didn't care about the things I drank.

I started that today. I told myself once I got one of those closable containers that had the oz. marks on it, I'd start drinking water. I actually bought it yesterday, but today was the first day I used it. So, so far, one large container of water, 32 oz. Let's see if I can drink another 32 today!

Of course, that doesn't mean I'm entirely giving up sodas. Already, at the end of the first 32 oz. of water I could feel a caffeine headache coming on. Oh no. There is no cold turkey for me. I will be weaning myself off slowly and carefully, like I did before. It doesn't help that I've practically got an IV line to soda in the house I live in. We have a soda fountain machine in the garage.

Good luck!

I know after...4 months, I can still taste soda sometimes when I get a craving. But thankfully all the things that make me so so thirsty only water helps get rid of that feeling.

Good luck with that! I try to drink 3 32 oz. nalgene bottles of water every day. I'm pretty successful at getting at least 2 of those, if not all 3. Mind, I never had a huge pop addiction in the first place, but water just tastes so darn gooood :)

It takes me about 3 days of intense water drinking to kick a caffeine habit. Bad headaches, but not so bad that I can't work.

And you not only get used to water but get to the point where you crave it over other fluids.

I make little deals with myself. Like, while I'm drinking water, I can have X soda a day. Or, if I'm good at only drinking water, or something else that's not soda, all week, then I can have soda on the weekends. It's that sort of thing that makes getting through it bearable. Water is just so bland to me, and none of the flavored things really tempt me enough to want to walk away from it. But yeah. I'll do it. I've done it before so I know I can :)
