Health Update...

Last night was the first night in a week and a half that I was able to get a full night’s sleep. Heaven. Relief. I can only hope that this continues and keeps up. However, I practically had to freeze myself to accomplish this. I had to prop my window open, and turn my ceiling fan on full force. The result? Restful sleep, and no indication of hives until the very beginnings of when I was supposed to wake up, and there were only 2 small spots that didn’t start to bother me until I noticed them, so really it was negligible. So, I get to freeze (under covers) in order to sleep well. If that’s what it takes, then that’s what it takes.

For those of you who don’t know, in October, I broke out in hives the weekend before Nancy and Scott’s cookout/party. I went to emergency care, where the doctors diagnosed me with hives, and was given 7 days’ worth of prednisone and told to get some benedryl to combat the itching. The hives went away that weekend. I was good for 3 weeks, then boom – a week before the cruise I started getting them again. During the cruise I was fine. After the cruise, they came back, and not only that, but Nancy started getting them too.

We’ve systematically started going through everything it could be to narrow down the cause, and we’ve narrowed it down to either something in the heating system, or just a heat related allergy altogether. The former would be better, the latter would suck. Nancy’s doctors are closer than mine, and she works less, so she’ll be seeing an allergist this week, and sharing the information with me. Here’s to crossing our fingers we can find a way to make this ALL go away.
