Typical Day...

Me: Good afternoon, CompanyName. How may I help you?

Them: Are you AT&T?

Me: (smirks) No, we are CompanyName.

Them: You're sure you're not AT&T?

Me: I'm sure.

Them: Is your number (spews number)

Me: (sighs) No, no it's not.

Them: Oh. I must have dailed the wrong number.

I get about 20 of these calls a day.

Spare me.

I used to have this problem when I had a land line. My number was the transposition of a Dr's number. So I asked, one time, what number they were calling, and then I could tell them: No, you're dialing X and you should be doing Y. I found that to be more helpful and cut down on the number of calls.

I didn't like being called about sick children (means they wanted a call back and I was not home during the day, when they'd expect a quick turnaround!) or about prostate problems. Egads.
