Writing Woes

Words flow into my head and scream to be put in paper, but often, I do not have an outlet for capturing them. Today was different. U had a notebook right in front of me and the words raced to leave my mind, but the practical side of me kept saying "No, No, NO!" that's not right, you can't write that. If this keeps ip. I'll never get the words that want to be spoken down on paper! And, they do want to be spoken.

Characters and concepts keep badgering me. Details keep clogging my mind, shouting, "WRITE ME! WRITE ME! My story wants to be written!" I need some sort of monitor which shuts off practical reasoning and allows the creative mind to flow unchecked, no matter how crappy or crummy the words, when written, might seem. That they are written at all is what's important, not that they are well written.

So, coul someone please start drop kicking my mind whenever it gets distracted from the creative process?

Thanks!

You're exactly right that getting them written is what's important. And honestly? It's all willpower. Just write it. Refuse to read it while you're writing it.

You sort of learn that during NaNoWriMo -- you have to turn off the internal editor, and write it, even though it's total crap. You'll always get a few gems out of it.
