Fight for the Telephone

Last night, Darrick handed me my mail and said, "We need to talk about how to handle the phone. You're online too much. My parents can't get through and I can't get through."

Now, granted, I do use the phone often, but usually when I do no one is here. I'm supposed to care that someone called for him or Jennifer why?

He keeps asking me if anyone called, knowing full well that he's changed the password on the voicemail, so I can't check the messages. And, quite frankly, I don't care who calls for him. If it's important, and he's not here, they'll leave a message.

In any case, I will be looking for a new way to access the internet. Until I find those ways, those who are looking for me will either find me really early in the morning or really late at night.

If I get cable or DSL, he's not getting use of those. Ever. Well, if that can be managed. He'll have to stay with dialup. I've password protected my computer, and hopefully only mine can use whatever account that I set up.

Woman, you so need to get out of this arrangement. He's gonna suck the very life out of you.

Damn Darrick

Unfortunately, that's not practical right now. I currently just started a job and I have no funding to find a new place to live. I have approximately $500 of the money I had saved left. I don't want to move back home. So, for now, I bide my time. But, damn him is right.

I know you have the guts to stick it out until the time is right to make the next move.

I'm just glad you've found this side of him before it was too late. I very much pity Jennifer.

At this juncture I'm of the firm belief that Jennifer gets whatever she deserves. There is no pity for her from me. I'm almost 100% sure she's the reason he's being the way he is.

I'm looking into cable. There's a sweet deal out there that's very affordable. The cable company just has to call me back. I have absolutely no intention of sharing, even if he has the capabilities to share. Hence, the password protection.

I, too, vote for the cable.
However, I first vote for sticking it to that schlub Derrick and staying with Dialup. The slow connection is worth it to get one up and be stubborn right?

Not if I ever want to download the 100 meg update to the OS I'm using, no. Cable would be the way to go. It's not worth being slow when I've waited most of my adult life to /be/ somewhere that has cable. That's a kick in the teeth :) I'll make it very clear that if I get cable, they're not to use it. It's mine.

The main thing with cable is that it's generally to the whole house. Of course, you'd need a router to split the line and such behind it... so... just hook your computer up, and leave it always online.

You could always get your own dial-up line, but cable is much nicer.

I'd vote for cable, hooked up in your bedroom, if possible, or whereever your 'puter is set up. If it's a lockable room, even better!

Stay strong, you'll be out soon!
