General Update

January 7th. After work I went to a party for the company I work for. It was their quarterly get together. The guys all go out golfing, then go to The Green Turtle afterwards for appetizers and drinks. Since this was the first function I was invited to as a member of the staff (though only temporary) I wanted to go. After some consideration, I'd already had plans made for that night, I opted to go and attend my other fuction a bit later.

It's a good thing I did, because I received some very good news. I am going to be hired permanently at the company. When, I'm not exactly sure, but the fact that I'm gonna be hired there full time is good thing. Not only that, they increased my hours. It's not by much, but it's enough to make a small difference in how much I'll be saving each week, which is another good thing.

We also talked 'shop' about a few projects he wanted me to take on. I've already managed to nearly complete the huge one he wanted me to do - which was organize and prepare a mailer for some of our clients for gutter work. It turned out to be easier than I expected. I was a little worried I wouldn't be able to do it because I'm not at all that familiar with the ACT software that they are using. The helpfiles were fantabulous and I was able to pull it off.

After the party, I went to the 1000 Towers D&D game that adamdray runs. I play Elisiana, the youngest of several royal children that play in the game. It's a fun group, consisting of michaelmauzey, bluekitsune, gwyndyn and ironman. Much crazy zanniness is to be had. When next our troubled heroes meet, we're under attack with our most hated foes! Duh duh DUH!

January 8th, I went with a bunch of friends to Legal Seafood to help SSB celebrate her getting into medical school. She'll be going to Tulane in Lousiana. YAY! But also BOO! While I am very, very, very happy for her, that means she'll be moving away from Maryland. *sniff* But, I'm definitely glad for her, and have every faith and vote of confidence that she'll succeed in the task that she's set out for herself, to become a doctor. I'm anxiously waiting for her to finish school so I can all start bugging Dr. Brett. After the party I went to the movies with a dear friend. We hit Jillians first, while waiting for the movie to start, and noted that some of our favorite games were gone. It was a very enjoyable evening, all in all.

January 9th, I went to Virginia to electricsoup's knitting party. I wrote all about that in an earlier post, so I won't bother to write about it again :)

The rest of the week has been pretty quiet. I've embroiled myself in various crafting projects, and simply rested and enjoyed myself. This past weekend has been much of the same. It's kinda nice to spend some time at home and just sit back and relax for a change. It seems like these last two months I've been in a constant mode of travel. Not that I'm complaining! I've loved every minute of it, and being included in differnet things. It's nice. But it's also nice to have some downtime too.

Every day I realize just how blessed I am to have the companionship of the friends that I have. They don't hear that often enough, but they are not far from my thoughts. They've been constant supporters of everything that I've gone through in the last year, and I think without them, I would not be in the place of complacency that I'm in right now. I'm happy, which is a state I hadn't been in for the longest of times. Not really. However, after the last several months I've come to realize that I really am happy. And that's a very, very good feeling. So, to everyone who has helped with that, THANK YOU!
