I've mentioned this on Firan, on our usual channel, but not everyone was connected at that time. After much thinking, I've decided that sometime in April I'm going to run at least one game of Shadowrun. I've been feeling the burn to play in that universe again, and if that means I have to GM it rather than be a player (which I'd prefer to be) then so be it. It's been almost a year since I've played, so I need to brush up on a few things. It's been well over 10 years since I GM'd and I never thought I was very good at GMing to begin with, so bear with me. I've never GM'd Shadowrun before, just D&D and WEG's version of Star Wars.

What I'd like to know is who's interested. I know that ironman is, because he's been bugging me for ages to run a game, and adamdray mentioned he'd play if I'd GM. Is there anyone else from the usual Maryland crew interested? If so, please respond here.

For the first game I think I'm gonna do a few pregens. But before I do the work in creating Pre-Gens I'd like to get an idea of what types of characters you'd be more interested in choosing to play. To give examples:

Types of "Classes" - Shadowrun isn't really restricted by classes. But they do sometimes have specific classifications. "Classes" are really only restricted by how much tech you decide you want to put in your body.

Hermetic Mages - only restriction is they can call elementals only, does not get shamanic bonuses.
Shamans - spiritual/god magic w/totem bonuses and restrictions... may call spirits only.
Adepts - devoted to one aspect of magic
Physical Adepts - devoted to magically enhancing the body
Deckers - can control the matrix/internet and information processing (limited in the scope of the game)
Riggers - can control cars, drones and other vehicles with vehicular computer systems
Street Samurai - brawny musclemen/women
Techies - people good with electronics
etc... the sky is really the limit for the type of character that you want to play. The above is just a sample of character types and is by no means an all inclusive list.

Character Races:

Elves, Orks, Trolls, Humans and Dwarves

Shadowrun is a cyberpunk gaming system set the year 2056 on Earth. If you don't kow the gaming system and you're a little curious, you can go to: http://www.shadowrun.org/ to get a sneak peak.

Well, I'm hardly the "usual maryland crew" But I've always wanted to try my hand at Shadowrun. If that's okay, that is.

It depends on the style of the campaign, but if you thought it'd fit I'd want to play a Rigger or a Decker. With high resources, so I can get a sweet ride. ;)

What, none of the new variants for races? :D

What version are you going to run? Sounds like the latest, since the year is 2064... ;)

I hope you write more about it. Sorta miss SR.
