Supreme Court Removes Homeowner Rights

Surpreme Court decides that private property can now be seized by local governments for development by private businesses. This does not inspire me to want to go and purchase a house if it means that it can be seized by developers who will pay you a small amount of money and then sell it for a large amount of money. This is what our world is coming to, the day and age where the government can just seize your possessions for no real good reason other than to make a profit for themselves.

I think the justices who DID decide in favor (since it was a 5-4 decision) are rather...interesting. Seems they think that going for the "greater good" rather than, you know, the constitution is ok.

I disagree. Very much so.

I also disagree with this. As long as the government pays you VERY well for your land, I dont think its right...

Right.

Like the goverment would pay well for anything except 8 million dollar nuts and bolts.

;)

As someone who's about to become a home owner, in an area where houses sell for well above both appraisal and tax assessment, this seriously annoys me.

Especially given what we just paid for a house. Oy. Thanks for bringing this up, Nyn. Good to be informed.
