Roleplay, Auctions and Pixel

Yesterday was a very, very non-productive day. Roleplay on Firan is hitting an all time high. Lots of major plot stuff is happening, and it’s both exciting and frightening at the same time. Yesterday, my stomach was clenched most of the time. I can’t go into details because players of Firan read my journal too, but it’s some pretty high stress stuff with lots of meta-plotting going on. It’s definitely turning out to be a more interesting story than I imagined, and when I asked to be more involved in stuff… oie! This was not quite what I’d imagined. I better watch what I ask for next time. Hee.

Speaking of exciting and frightening, I won mindyklasky’s auction (http://tinyurl.com/yzxwfm) last evening. It’s all bought and paid for this morning. She auctioned editing services for up to 50 pages of text to help sponsor the neighbor of an author friend of hers who is down on his luck this Christmas. The proceeds will be going towards giving the neighbor and his family a better Christmas. I figured it was a good cause and the offer was very, very tempted, so I bid and won. It’s both a squeeful and terrifying thing at the same time! The offer is good until December 2007, so now I need to bunker down and start writing in full gear. This is probably the thing to kick my rear into shape anyway, because while I know the money went to a good cause – I also don’t want to waste the opportunity presented before me, not that I should have to have a concrete reason to write. It helps to have a concrete goal I have to absolutely work toward.

Pixel has come back, all fixed (we hope). My boss brought the computer back this morning from the IT guy’s house. It is being put through it’s paces this morning to finish the task that I had started before it crashed the last time due to the heat exchange not working. It’s my World of Warcraft patch. *cough* Jonesing. Lots of Jonesing. Must play. But I also want to be careful, just in case that wasn’t the entire problem. Here’s to crossing my fingers. I can also work on my writing with pixel back, since it is the computer that holds the text of my story, though what I have so far is also safely backed on my brand spanking new firelight smart disk 40 gig firewire drive. Love that thing. Love it!

Squee! The fan in the back just came on, which it wasn’t doing before!!! Okay, so I’m a bit over excited, but I’ve missed my laptop properly working and this looks like it might do the trick. The back fan wasn’t coming on before at all, or when it did it was giving off awful noises. So, no more excuses not to write or to put off doing the things I’d originally bought the laptop for in the first place.

So that was you!!! I had no idea who the high bidder was. I am thrilled to "know" the person who won the bid, and I look forward to seeing your work in the coming year!

(And thank you so much for helping out Jay's neighbor - I am *thrilled* that we could help turn around this holiday season for a family in such dire straits.)

Happy holidays!

Yes, that was me!

I'm happy to have helped. It was a very good cause.
