Tea Anyone...?

In an effort to get away from sodas, again, I’ve been making iced tea at work every day. I have one of those 32 oz containers, and I make approximately 2 cups/mugs of tea, fill the rest with water, and enough sugar to sweeten. I’ve done this every day this week. Monday I had 2 containers of iced tea that I made. Tuesday and Wednesday I just made tea in the morning, and drank water in the afternoon, and finished what I had in the evening. Monday, at home, I had 1 full, large cup of soda. Tuesday and Wednesday, I had one ½ cup of soda. That’s it.

There are two reasons for doing this. Firstly, I want to get away from the evils of HFCS. Really, I do. I might have an occasional soda, and the IV tube in the form of the soda fountain that we have which will be evilly calling me, but I am going to do my very, very best to resist. The fountain will be the hardest devil to combat, since it’s a constant source of caffeine, and does not run out all that quickly. Secondly, it’s tea is better for me in general, and I put less sugar into that than there is in a 20 oz bottle of soda, and it is /real/ sugar, not HFCS.

Does this mean I’m giving up caffeine? No. I still need my caffeine fix. If it’s more diluted through tea, that’s fine, but I still need the fix. I will need to get some teabags for home, otherwise the evil that is the soda machine will work its siren’s call on me on my days off over the weekend. Plus, it’ll be handy to have at home anyway.

Plus? I'm thinking I really don't want to buy a soda card on the cruise. Tea is one of the things they offer for free. So, hopefully this will take and stay.

Living in the south again, it's been my thing to try to get away from the surrounding sweet tea thing. It's freakin' everywhere. Water is good, especially with some sort of crystal light power like substance tossed in occasionally for a change-up.

I'll have to try that. I'm not a huge fan of sweet tea myself, but often there is no option for unsweetened.

And I heartily do NOT recommend the green tea w/ honey single serve powders from both Noname Brand and elsewhere. They taste like icky bootie.

You have to watch out, on this side of the country, you can barely find any iced tea that has caffeine in it anymore. Washington, Oregon and some parts of California are bad for that. When I gave up my COCACOLADELICIOUSNECTAROFTHEGODS I tried to switch to tea and got shanked by half the restaurants out there.
