Whirlwind Year...

Things have been good, but hectic. I've been running non-stop, it feels like, since spring. Most of that is because I've been visiting and spending time with my most wonderfully, amazing boyfriend (who I know lurks around and reads this journal - so nyah). The other part of that is going around visiting family and friends; including a few side trips to Chincoteague and NOLA to be with them. So, this year, I guess you can say, has been a whirlwind adventure. I am looking forward to a much, much calmer wintery season.

NOLA was amazing. I attended the wedding, boyfriend in tow, of one of my best friends, bluekitsune. It was held in the Audobon Zoo, where they were serenaded by seals and lions, after the Rabi and Priest got too close and caused the speakers to create feed back - waking them up. But, it was cute, and it fit, and everyone had a good giggle - including the bride and groom who were trying their darndest not to. The tea room that we were in was amazing, and the food and drinks - OMG Hurricanes are now my favorite! - were the bestest evah. The atmosphere for that night was absolutely amazing. and I think everyone had a grand time. Bourbon Street, however, on Halloween night was much with the VERY MUCH TOO CRAZY FOR ME aspect, and so it took four blocks of walking and feeling claustrophobic before boyfriend and I realized this and went back to the hotel. But the after events the next day made up for the lost time missed the day before, and we got to enjoy some quality with the bride and groom at the outdoor markets, and then join them for dinner at the Ritz for our last night there; which turned into an adventure in and of itself.

Since I've been home, I've been working on various crafting projects, very much with a crafting bug. I finished a scarf for the boyfriend with a nice striping angel hair yarn, that I miscalculated and was much with the bigness when done. Really, I could have folded it over and it would have made a nice double scarf, but left unfolded it is versitle enough to also double for a hat/scarf combo. After that foray, I have started making other crafty things in hopes of getting some done for Christmas presents this year. Outlook is doubtful - but we'll see. I'm halfway finished one project, but then I got sidetracked with working on quilting, which I've been jonsing to do for a long time anyway. The quilting project, I think, is coming out quite nicely so far. It is very time consuming though, but this little wall hanging is a nice experiment to see how well I'll do with a much larger quilting project, which is something I will eventually want to do.

The next few weeks are about to be just as hectic for me: Nutcracker this weekend, Cookie Party the next weekend, Cooking w/ Housemates the weekend after - OR - dinner with my sister, Christmas with two families, and New Years somewhere - I'm just not sure who is doing what yet to know for sure where.

So yes, very much looking forward to a calmer wintry season after the first of the year.

Like I said, lurking :) Lurking is not necessarily a bad thing!
