General Updatedness...

I’ve been doing more lurking these days, than writing. There’s a reason for this really.

After my Bahamas vacation in August, I’ve been in the throes of readjustment. My housemates decided to give up their lease for the house that we were renting, which meant that I had to find a new place to live. After much research, and back and forth discussion with Eric – the boyfriend, I decided to finally move in with him.

It was not an easy decision to make, but it was the right one for me. I did not want to give up my job, which meant I would have to traverse the Bay Bridge every day to and from work – and join the rat race of other commuters. The people at work are wonderful, and they take care of me there; plus they have good benefits. So, it made giving that up difficult to do. So, after a test run to see how bad the commute was, I finally took the plunge and agreed to move in with him.

Since September, it’s been a hazy fog of discussions, packing, and getting things together for the move – which took place in mid-October. Since mid-October, I’d been in a state of flux, trying to get everything unpacked and settled into place. The commute has not made this easy. I start driving in the dark, and I get home in the dark, so the want and the will to get stuff done when I get home is null and void – which means things wait until the weekend, when I’d much rather be playing. But, I’ve found a balance somewhere, for most of my stuff has now got a place – with the exception of my crafting supplies and the things that go into my desk, which I’m still working into the mix.

But, now we’ve entered the holidays, which has always been the busiest time of the year for me. There are parties to go to, gifts to buy, gifts to make, cookies to bake, and other sundry tasks that I probably have not already considered. Oh, and of course, Blizzard’s release of Cataclysm – which has me all a flutter, and Eric worried that he won’t get quality Lisa time for a few weeks. (Of which, I’ve assured him he will.)

I’m still working on finding the right balance of what to do with my time, though in the end I know everything will fall into place, and life will resume some semblance of normalcy again.

It's not the Bay Bridge so much that sucks as the Severn River bridge. And the problem with that particular bridge is that there are a lot of off ramps and people don't like to let others merge, so they end up rubber necking and causing a back up. I've learned some tricks to get around the traffic faster, so the commute isn't too, too bad unless someone is just plain dumb and gets into an accident.

I'm more worried about summer, when the idiocy rises 10 fold with the addition of the vacationers racing to get to Ocean City, MD - particularly on Thursdays and Fridays. They tend to stop on the bridge and gawk at the sailboats on the bay - which is more than annoying.
