Job Interview!

Yesterday I had a job interview with a place called MRI. They're a recruiting agency. The interview seemed to go well and after I was assured that they are not a temp agency and I don't have to pay any recruiting fees, I was a bit easier with the interview process. The woman I talked to seemed really excited and enthusiastic, so hopefully that's a good sign. She'll be looking at jobs that pay 27k+ a year for me, which is 10k more than what I'm currently making, and will be a huge help to me and figuring out living situation stuff, assuming I get a job through them. That's a big assumption, however.

On another note, I got to see my "test" scores. Apparently I type 72 words a minute, and even with the 7 mistakes I made with those 72 words, that scores about 90%, which isn't too bad. Damn, that's fast! I guess all those years playing Online RPG's has paid off! Too bad I've decided not to try my hand at writing =P

This morning I called the State of Maryland about a potential job in Baltimore. Apparently, the notice I received was in error. That job isn't open, but I'm supposed to send the 'I'm not interested' portion back so I can stay on the Baltimore list. However! I got a call for the same job for an interview today in Annapolis. The pay would be 21k base, that's bad. However, I'd get paid vacation, holidays, benefits and sick days, so that's good. It would offset a few things, even if it is not the ideal pay arrangement - and there's the fact that salaries go up every year for cost of living increases. My sister works for the state in social services, so I have some slight insider info. The catch is the only early slot was filled, so I'd have to take off of work, if I could manage it, to go to the interview. I don't even know how to begin to ask for the time off.

We'll see, I guess. But I do need to ask or something, tomorrow about it, I suppose, rather than at least minute.

Congrats. Also, I have to admit, that I do see a higher typing speed being the norm for long time online RPers. :)

Yup, many mu*ers are fast typists -- my speed's about 75 WPM.

And good luck! :D
