Birthday Bash!

Well, not really a bash but a very nice celebration indeed. Lots of people came: adamdray, stephdray, liakela, bluekitsune, ironman, gwyndyn, michaelmauzey, dpassmore, Claire and aninkling.

It was decided I'd meet SSB at Steph and Adam's so we could carpool and not have lots of cars at the restaurant. Since Steph and Adam were home, we all ended up going together to the restaurant, a bit late. But that's fine. Got the table rearranged for 11 people, rather than the original 10, since Melissa said she could come afterall. Had a good time catching up with everyone and dinner was great. We at at Don Pablos in Owings Mills. Misty and Chris couldn't come, so they sent a card along with Mike.

Rachel, not knowing the rules I had established for the night, had attempted to get the staff to sing to me, or rather, announce my birthday. I felt the sombrero going on my head and saw all the faces at the table and everyone at once going 'NO!' It was a rather surreal moment, though funny. I can only imagine my own expression of shock. I'm not one for public embarrasment at restaurants :) But, they did give me a candle and a sopapia (sp?) which is caramelly/pastry goodness.

After dinner Jesse and Diana had to go home. Diana wasn't feeling well. The rest of us went over to the AMC theatres to see the new cartoon movie Robots. I'm not sure what anyone else thought about the movie, but I thought it was absolutely amazing. I was in stitches nearly the entire time (when I wasn't coughing because I was sick also). There were so many great spoofs in the movie about other movies, and the storyline was very cute.

After the movie we went back to Steph and Adam's for the night to hang out. They had drinks waiting for me since I said I'd wanted to try some alcoholic beverages for the first time last night. So, I started off with a raspberry wine cooler and had a smidge of Long Island iced tea. I liked the wine cooler, but the judge is still out for the iced tea. We sat back, relaxed, and chatted for a good part of the night. About half of us crashed there for the night and were treated to donuts for breakfast.

It was a very good weekend and I thoroughly enjoyed myself this year on my birthday. Thanks to everyone who could make it and make it a memorable start to a new year in my life.

Oops. I had meant to sneak in a comment just after the cusp of midnight but both forgot the intent and misremembered the day. -sheep- Anyway, happy birthday, ma'am, glad you spent it in the company of good friends... even if you had to suffer the sombrero. -smile-
