Weekend in Review

This weekend was pretty quiet. Originally a friend and I had planned to go out to dinner on Friday to celebrate my getting a promotion at work. Come Friday I really wasn't feeling well and wasn't sure I could make it to dinner and it turned she had something else she wanted to do. We postponned for Sunday instead.

Friday and Saturday night I spent at home, mostly. The one exception is the small trip that I made to AC Moore on the way to Best Buy to get some yarn. I'm running out of that nice gray cashmere yarn that I need to finish the sweater I started. Unfortunately AC Moore didn't have any, but I did end up buying tons of other stuff there for other projects. Meh. So, off to Best Buy I went to go look at their TiVo selection. What they had to offer was $400 more expensive than what I could get off of http://www.tivo.com - so I got one from there instead.

Yep, that's right. I'm going to be joining the world of TiVo. I'm just waiting for it to ship. It'll be going to work since... well... I'm at work during the day and someone needs to sign for it. *pokepokepoke* Has it shipped yet? What about now? Maybe now? No, really, now? I really want it. I'm tired of being a slave to setting my VCR. I never remember. There's a few specific shows that I watch. Mostly the WB channel. Seventh Heaven, Everwood, Gilmore Girls, One Tree Hill, Smallville, sometimes Jack & Bobby, Alias, Survivor (if I remember), The Apprentice, Joan of Arcadia, Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis, and Charmed.

I tried watching other stuff on Friday nights. Did you know all the ABC comedy shows are no longer on Friday? My god! Are the networks insane? I loved the Friday comedy nights as a kid. TGI Fridays they used to call it. Where are all the cool friday night programs? It's all dull, drab, boring news or talk shows now. Who cares about that stuff? Bah.

Sunday... Pia from Firan and I went out to lunch. Yay lunch. We went to Fridays near Arundel Mills, had a good lunch and then went to see Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I loved the movie. I probably would have appreciated it more had I seen any of the other Hitchhiker's stuff, but this was my first. But, I'm glad I didn't see any of the other stuff since I might have had a tainted view of the movie before going in too. You will find no spoilers here though.

Pia is also organizing FiranCon's hotel this year. She and I decided to stop by the hotel to get some pictures and look at the ballroom. That proved to be something of an adventure. Getting there is a bit tricksy, even though you can see it from Rt 100. (the highway), you have to do a bit of finagling to get there. There are no obvious routes. Don't worry, directions will be provided for those driving! The hotel is fantabulous. The ballroom is awesome! It's literally three times larger than last years. Wanting Con now. Please? Kthnxbye.
