Weekend Hijinks

Saturday started earlier than usual for me. I had two different apartment complexes to look at. I had high hopes for one, the Highland Village Townhomes, even though I really didn't want a 2 bedroom apartment. Both apartments were nice in layout, with one exception. The rooms for Highland Village Townhomes, all of them, were no bigger than a box stall for a horse. That's a very, very tiny living space. I need room to stretch out and move around. The second apartment complex, The Villages at Marley Station, was much more promising.

In fact, the apartment at Marley Station is so promising that I'm willing to put out about $125 to get the application process started. It's a rent controlled apartment complex so the application fee is $25 and the holding deposit is $100. If I get the apartment, the $100 will go toward my first month's rent. Rent for a one bedroom there is about $625-665 a month which is much easier for me to handle. Plus, the rooms are spacious enough that I won't get claustrophobic. That's one of the reasons that having space is very important to me. If I feel like I'm getting boxed in, my mood changes drastically -- I get depressed and upset at things very easily. The drawback is that it'll take approximately 2 weeks for the application process to be completed. If I don't get it, I'll get my $100 back.

After looking at the apartments I went home to visit with my father for the weekend, since it was the Labor Day holiday and I had a 3 day weekend. We chatted for a bit on Saturday and then my father decided he didn't have enough food for the cook out we were having on Sunday. We went to Dover, DE (no tax!) to the Super Walmart there to pick up a few things, stopping at Tractor Supply for my father to look into getting a new pellet stove for the farm in Centreville and then at Bob Evans for dinner on the way. Really, I think he just wanted to take me out to dinner. He's always wanting to do that when I go home to visit. In any case, it was a nice evening.

Sunday was the cookout. I wasn't really up to visiting too many people so I mostly stayed inside the house. It was my dad, myself, Loretta, Susan and Sherry and their husbands, two nephews and their families. It was good seeing everyone and chatting, for a bit, but it was a bit overwhelming too. So, I stayed inside to get away. I hardly know anyone anymore, not like I used to. Though, sometimes staying inside can get you into trouble too! We had a very interesting conversation about strip clubs and the best places to go on the Eastern Shore. Apparently, they've decided that they want to take me to one in Dover, DE. We left with those plans unresolved, thank goodness!

See, I dont understand why places charge you money for an aplication, one would think that they would want renters, but the $100 is a bit much... then again, that $100 fee would probably weed out any dead beats from applying... ok wait, I understand now :)

Did you check out Glen Hollow apartments? Also, stop by at some point to get that second box of blue dishes that never went home with you the first time. :)

I checked it out as far as pricing goes. They are now asking $725 a month with water and sewer included, which isn't enough of a price change for me to be able to comfortably move there. But it does look like a nice little neighborhood.

Let me know when the best time to stop by will be, and I'll be glad to come and get that stuff. Sorry that I missed you last time and I've been meaning to email to see when would be good. :)

I'll be home during the day on Friday, and if you miss me, my sister-in-law will be there babysitting our cats, so I'll tell her you might stop by. :)
